An advanced hydraulic fracturing technique: Pressure propagation and attenuation mechanism of step rectangular pulse hydraulic fracturing

Hydraulic fracturing technology has played a pivotal role as key in shale gas development, but the geological environmental problems caused have been worrying public. This paper proposes an advanced step rectangular pulse hydraulic technique, which can achieve higher pressure and more complex fractures by pumping lower energy fluid. The results indicate that propagation of be divided into stable unstable stages. Compared with conventional fracturing, longer unsteady time, distribution obtained. Step parameters are discussed. We found increases linearly increase amplitude. There optimal frequencies comprehensive damping coefficients to get fluid different reservoirs. These research will help reduce hazards, also provide guidance for optimization
